Will you look at that?
Here comes 2006! Beautiful…and not the tiniest ding or dent on its shiny surface anywhere. That’ll change soon. I know that. You know that. But for now–let’s just enjoy this moment–this infinite promise of new possibilities. |

Halley’s pithy Comment on Bob “I’m In The Habit Of Keeping Secrets” Woodward:
This reminded me of yet-another great Ira Flatow remark, from across some restaurant table or other in Cleveland:
There was a time when we all, even Robert Redford, wanted to be Bob Woodward*… |
* Once a great investigative reporter, Robert Woodward is now spinning nightly on a TV set near you in his new role as Bush White House stenographer…

See no ethics, hear no ethics, speak a *lot* of ethics!

Wouldn’t you love to eavesdrop on those brand new, mandatory ethics lectures for White House officials?
Gee, this so reminds me of the NH Republican Party’s eight-point Code of Ethics,” which they invented right after getting caught jamming Democrats’ phones in 2002 –illegal behavior which, we learn in 2005, was financed by Tom DeLay and Jack Abramoff. I hope Bush will save some of my Federal tax dollars by brushing off the NH Republican code for his own team’s use. It sounds like exactly what he’s looking for. |
You see, very conveniently, the NH Republican Code of Ethics–while forbidding false or misleading attacks and “any activity which would corrupt or degrade the political process–didn’t obligate them to uncover or punish anyone’s past mistakes or crimes–or even to answer questions truthfully.

Bird flight suits?????
Rarely do I ever click on a text ad, but…who could resist? Sample:

This whole subject offers so many opportunities for bad-taste jokes about Bush’s flight suit and his UN bathroom break that I feel virtuous already, because I’m stopping right here. |

Krispy Kreme meme invades Wonkette via FOX News?
October 28th, 2005 · Comments Off on Krispy Kreme meme invades Wonkette via FOX News?

The non-news of people waiting for Plamegate tidbits is getting sticky–e.g. this from Wonkette:
… the [FOX News] doughnuts had pre-arranged blanket immunity from prosecution in exchange for their testimony. Their hot, delicious testimony.
Breaking…Wonkette has now added a new category, “Politics/Doughnuts.

Dick Cheney???
October 24th, 2005 · Comments Off on Dick Cheney???
Scooter Libby, who told prosecutors he learned about Valerie Plame’s CIA connection from “journalists,” in fact got the information from Dick Cheney.
Plamegate is giving some journalists a bad name, but….the name “Dick Cheney”? That’s going too far!

Solving the mystery of the manic mug shot
October 21st, 2005 · Comments Off on Solving the mystery of the manic mug shot
People are puzzled by Tom DeLay’s smirking perp walk…not to mention his beaming mug shot.
Just who the heck does he think he is — Bill Gates?
Here’s what my magic mind-reading hat says Tom DeLay is thinking:
- “La la la — I am soooo much richer than the cop taking my photo.”
- “This expression looked just great on my campaign flyers.”
- “Things could be way worse–at least I’m not Scooter or Rove!”

…in fact, twelve questions, but this is my personal favorite:
In retrospect, wouldn’t it have been smarter to just TP Wilson’s house, and he would be all like “Valerie, the trees are filled with toilet paper!” and you’d be laughing your butt off outside, which would be so cool.
